The actress, who was considered the most famous one in history a century ago, goes down her recollections. She wants to write memoirs, but constantly gets lost and talks about the events of her life happened in different time periods.

Her assistant in writing the book appears to be her secretary Georges, a devoted one in love with her. Sarah Bernhardt will tell him and the audience the true and pitiless story of her crazy, magnificent and rebellious life - the one she actually lived.

The achelata is a сrawfish that lives on the bottom of the sea. They say that achelatas have no nervous system, and before dying they emit a cry that resembles laughter.

The heroine’s confession also seems to be such a scream, but it’s not all over yet for her: finally  she decides to be back on the stage, despite her age.
